Naloxone Side Effects: Do’s and Don’ts

Naloxone Side Effects, Do’s and Don’ts, and Drug Interactions. Is Naloxone a lifesaving overdose antidote? Should it be made available over-the-counter? Should it be made more widely available, even to drug dependents?

With rates of deaths from overdose skyrocketing to epidemic proportions in the United States, the FDA is set to meet next month to answer these questions and to assess if the drug, which reverses opioid overdose, should be allowed over-the-counter.

The FDA is set to tackle this as part of a comprehensive set of solutions to the newest public health epidemic troubling the U.S.: overdose with prescription drugs.

Deaths from drug overdose — involving both legal and illegal drugs — have tripled since 1990. In 2008, they even surpassed deaths from car crashes to become, for the first time, the leading cause of accidental deaths in U.S.

Kratom Side Effects: Rapid Heart Rate and Hypertension

Kratom Side Effects. Ever tried kratom? It is described by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) as an “emerging public health threat”. On the other hand, kratom users (or shall we call them kratom enthusiasts?) are defending the plant for its medicinal properties. Among others, it can apparently relieve pain, help heal wounds, and treat cough and diarrhea. Moreover, Kratom has been traditionally used in Southeast Asia to “increase energy, appetite, and sexual desire”.

Spinraza Side Effects: Kidney Damage and Bleeding Complications

Spinraza Side Effects. Last month, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the use of Spinraza as the first ever drug to “treat children and adults with spinal muscular atrophy”.

spinraza side effects - serious and most common side effects

In announcing the new drug treatment, Dr. Billy Dunn, director of the agency’s Division of Neurology Products had this to say:

There has been a long-standing need for a treatment for spinal muscular atrophy, the most common genetic cause of death in infants, and a disease that can affect people at any stage of life. As shown by our suggestion to the sponsor to analyze the results of the study earlier than planned, the FDA is committed to assisting with the development and approval of safe and effective drugs for rare diseases and we worked hard to review this application quickly; we could not be more pleased to have the first approved treatment for this debilitating disease.

Taltz Side Effects, Warnings, and Precautions

Taltz Side Effects. People with psoriasis have an alternative drug in the form of Taltz which was approved by the Food and Drug Administration early this year.

Does it work? Well, clinical trials prove that it does. From fda.gov:

Taltz’s safety and efficacy were established in three randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trials with a total of 3,866 participants with plaque psoriasis who were candidates for systemic or phototherapy therapy. The results showed that Taltz achieved greater clinical response than placebo, with skin that was clear or almost clear, as assessed by scoring of the extent, nature and severity of psoriatic changes of the skin.

Serious Taltz side effects include serious infection and serious allergic reaction. Should this happen to you, you should stop using Taltz and tell your doctor or seek medical help immediately.
