Are selenium supplements good for you? Yes and no. And like most things in life, moderation is the key. A new review of studies shows that most people in Canada and the U.S. get enough selenium in their diet and that taking supplements could even be harmful.

A naturally occurring trace mineral found in soil and foods such as Brazil nuts, fish, poultry, meat, eggs, and grains like wheat, selenium is undoubtedly vital for good health.

Nugenix Side Effects – Good or Bad – Testosterone Booster

Nugenix Side Effects. What are the side effects of Nugenix testosterone boosters? The makers of the male supplement claim in their product FAQ section (at nugenix.com) that their research has not shown “any side effects associated with Nugenix”. Now, just because the company makes this claim does not mean that there are indeed no Nugenix side effects that you have to watch out for.

Calcium Supplement Side Effects: Higher Heart Attack Risk?

Calcium Supplement Side Effects. Are calcium supplements bad for your heart? The answer, according to a new study by researchers from Zurich University’s institute of social and preventative medicine, is “Yes”.

According to The Guardian, the researchers looked at “the calcium intake of 23,980 men and women in Heidelberg, Germany, who were aged 35-64 when they joined a local cohort of the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) study in 1994-98.”

They then checked the “participants’ health for 11 years afterwards, during which time 354 of them had a heart attack and 260 a stroke and there were 267 associated deaths. They also tracked how much calcium they consumed from any source.”

DMAA supplements Jack3d, OxyElite Pro are drugs and aren’t healthy — health experts say. Consumers beware. In this fitness-crazy world that peddles getting six-pack abs as the ultimate life goal, another dietary supplement, popular with athletes and fitness enthusiasts, has been linked to cerebral hemorrhage, heart attacks and death.

The bestselling products, found in major retail chains like GNC and Vitamin Shoppe or sold online by websites like bodybuilding.com, include Jack3d, a “preworkout booster,” and OxyElite Pro, a fat burner.

Fitness buffs swear by these supplements because they contain 1,3-dimethylamylamine or DMAA, advertised to increase energy, concentration and metabolism. Many fitness enthusiasts love Jack3d, because, as advertised online, it does “give you the mad aggressive desire and ability to lift more weight, pump out more reps and have crazy lasting energy.”

Testosterone for Bodybuilding: Good or Bad?

Testosterone for Bodybuilding: Good or Bad? Do testosterone supplements help you achieve your bodybuilding goals? Or can you develop some sculpted washboard abs and bulging biceps without having to resort to testosterone boosters?

We ask because a friend of this blog is worried that her husband is hurting himself by injecting testosterone for bodybuilding purposes. Here’s what she wrote us:

Do bodybuilders like hubby have to take supplements like testosterone boosters? I think Paul is fit and healthy but his friends at the gym sold him to the idea that he must – MUST – use these supplements to go up the next level. I’ve argued with him that its not necessary, even mentioned that I have no reason to complain in bed, but his gym rat friends seem to have more sway. I’m worried sick that he’s actually making himself unhealthy by taking in these testosterone for bodybuilding supplements. Am I right or am I over reacting?
